Denise Carmichael
Event Manager

Denise Carmichael has more than 20 years experience in the food service industry, with the last seven years spent as Event manager at the University of Alabama.

Denise has been employed with About Thyme Catering for 11 years, after owning a family restaurant for seven years. She began as service coordinator at First Commercial Bank catering lunch for the Bank’s Executive Dining Room two days a week and all special catered functions. In 2002 she became an Event Manager, managing the Executive Suite program at Auburn University where she had helped since 2000. Denise also helped with setting up the account at the University of Mississippi. As 2002 was our break out year Denise was influential as we began catering for the Skyboxes on the East side of Bryant Denny Stadium at the University of Alabama in that year. In 2004 Denise became the full time Event Manager at the University of Alabama. As Event Manager for Football, Basketball, and Gymnastics she has been responsible for organizing and planning the entire event from entering Skybox menus into our computer program, printing paperwork, hiring staff, ordering beverages, paper goods, ice, and assuring that all areas are set and ready for all game days.

All the Special Events for the University, the Athletic Department, and other clients have been managed and organized by Denise. She meets with the client to plan menus, special requests, the set up of the event, coordinates billing, and the actual execution of events. Denise coordinates with the culinary team to make sure the kitchen has the correct menu and any special request made by the client. Denise has working knowledge of the kitchen and is also certified Serv-Safe through the Alabama Department of Health. Denise has built good relationships with people throughout the University and Athletic departments and has grown our business in these areas each year.
